Mountain Splendor Photo Contest Announced
A photography contest entitled Mountain Splendor is the focus of an interesting fundraiser for the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust. Open to all mountain residents and visitors of all ages, all entries must reflect the splendor of the great outdoors in the San Bernardino mountains.
The photos will be judged on their photographic quality and nature subject material. Winning entries will be published in a 2004 calendar which will be sold as a fundraiser for the lands trust. Other prizes include $500 for the first place winner, $250 for second place and 10 runners-up will receive $25 each.
Once published, the calendar with the winning entries will be distributed mountainside and each winner will receive three free copies. Interested amateur and professional photographers may submit 35mm slides, other transparencies, prints or digital files. All entries must be postmarked by April 30 along with the entry form and the $5 entry fee. Photographers may submit as many images as they wish, but all must be submitted with a single entry form and fee. Winners will be announced during the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust meeting in May.
Because the purpose of the contest is to garner entries highlighting life in the magnificent San Bernardino mountains, photos with people as the primary subject matter will not be considered.
For information or an entry form call Ellie Lytle weekdays at (909) 381-5421, or evenings and weekends at (909) 337-0650. Information is also available on the trust's website: www.sbmlt.org or by e-mail at: contest @sbmlt.org.
Entrants under 18 years old must ask their parent or legal guardian to sign a photo release for their submissions.
